Online checklist--is a one-stop spot for students regarding the procedures.
- IS DISTANCE LEARNING FOR ME?
Take the simple academic survey and computer skills survey to help determine if you will be a successful online student.
- APPLICATION:
If you've never taken a class from Riverland Community College, apply for admission online or download an Application.
- MAIL:
Application and check or money order for one-time $20 application fee to Riverland Community College, Office of Admissions, 1900 Eighth Avenue NW, Austin, MN 55912.
- TRANSCRIPTS:
Request all transcripts including colleges, high school and/or GED be sent to Riverland Community College, Office of Admissions. Students without a high school diploma or GED will take an "Ability to Benefit" assessment.
- FINANCIAL AID:
If desired, file online financial aid application ASAP!! The Free Application for Student Federal Aid is available at any college campus or high school guidance office. You may apply online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Allow six weeks for processing. Veterans should contact the Registrar's Office, 507-433-0600 for benefits and restrictions.
- ACADEMIC SKILLS ASSESSMENT:
Arrange to take the Accuplacer test. Contact Student Services to schedule a testing appointment.
- ORIENTATION:
Attend an orientation session. Call Student Services to schedule your orientation session.
- CONTACT STUDENT SERVICES:
To make arrangements to meet with a counselor or program advisor after orientation to plan your class schedule.
- SELECT CLASSES:
Check schedule for current offerings. Distance learning classes have a specific section number. Classes offered online have a section number of 70. Classes offered ITV have a section number of 97, 98, or 99.
- REGISTER FOR CLASSES:
Visit or call the Student Service center or returning students can register online.
- PAY TUITION:
Mail check, payable to Riverland Community College, Business Office, 1900 Eighth Avenue NW, Austin, MN 55912 or charge fees by credit card by visiting a Student Services center.
- BOOKS/SUPPLIES:
Visit or contact the bookstore in Austin (507-433-0541) or Albert Lea (507-379-3314) to make arrangements for receiving your textbooks.
- COMPUTER USERNAMES & PASSWORDS:
Prior to an online course beginning date, you will be sent a course packet via traditional mail. This will provide access information for your course. Remember to keep your address current with the College.
- LIBRARY CARD:
Call the library at 507-433-0533, 1-800-247-5039, or e-mail the library. After the necessary information is submitted, you will be mailed a library card. If you are on campus you can also stop in the library.
- BEGIN CLASS:
You will receive an e-mail from your online class instructor during the first week of class with introductory information.
